I got a job and a kitten
I received an offer from Intel and accepted it, I expect to start working sometime next week. After two years of a very flexible life style, I am going to have a regular job, I might need some time to adapt to going to work five days a week, but it does come with its advantages; a nice salary, a company car with paid gas, plus many other benefits that would take me a couple of pages to list here. I was a bit worried about vacation days, but I am entitled to 23 vacation days a year which is almost what I used to get in the Netherlands; not bad at all. I am really lucky that Intel has an R&D center in Israel, otherwise I would have a hard time finding a job, and I would definitely would not have gotten such a good contract; my whole career experience is related to VLSI and EDA, I have no experience in real time, embedded, Databases nor web design, and the job at Intel perfectly fits my experience.
I went to play tennis yesterday, as I was leaving I noticed a little kitten meowing, nearby I saw a little box; it seems that someone had abandoned this kitten. I tried to give it some water to drink, as it was a very hot day. But the kitten didn't want any water and just followed me around, after a bit of hesitation I decided to take it home with me. Back at home I offered it milk, but it refused to eat it. I also had brought her box with me, and put a nice piece of cloth in it, to make it more comfy, she rejected the improvised bed as well, and just wandered around until she found herself a nice warm spot under the sofa.
Next morning the kitten was in critical condition, first I even thought it was dead, but it was moving a bit, although it looked very week, and about to die. I force fed it some milk using a spoon, that seemed to help. But as soon as it got some energy from the milk, it would just use to prevent me from feeding her more; obviously it does not like milk. So I tried something else, my mother had made some desert called Bahteh, made from milk, rice and sugar. I offered the kitten some, and it just went wild, it lunged into the plate, and started eating it like crazy. I kept feeding it the Bahteh, every couple of hours, and it recovered quite well; it started to walk again. I plan to raise it and keep it, its good for protection against mice and nasty insects.
