Rio's people are very friendly and eager to help , but most of the do not speak any English only Portuguese. Portuguese and Spanish are supposed to be close, but that is hardly noticeable in the spoken language, though it is more evident in the written language. But I realized that if I speak Spanish, most of the time they understand me, but it is hard for me understand their replies in Portuguese.
